We have decided to add a number of Indonesian painters and artists to our portfolio of Indonesian arts. Each of these men have toiled long years in becoming successful artists. They each have their own stories and have overcome many trials for the love of their work. While I can not do justice to all their hard work I will try to tell a little of their stories in both Indonesian and my interpretation of the words and the individuals behind the work.

Alfons

Following is my English translation and a few extra words about Alfons. Alfons is a close personal friends of my wife and her family in Bandung, Indonesia, They grew up just a few doors away and have remained close through the years. On a recent visit I made to Indonesia I had the pleasure of meeting Alfons and his family. Alfons made the long drive from Jakarta to Bandung to pick me up at the airport (it took us 6 hours). I spent a good deal of time with him, his mother, aunties and family. They treated me as if I was family and made me feel special. I feel very close to him and have rarely in my years met a kinder person. He is also a very talented individual with a number of cloths lines designed and in production in both Indonesia and the USA. This is very difficult as there is little copy-write laws in Indonesia. It is not uncommon for him to find his designs copied. What can not be copied is his wonderful art and his passion for his family and friends. Thanks for everything Alfons. Following is his above profile in English (sorry if the translation is not perfect) I have added a few words to help us understand a little more of his sole.

Alfons Profile; I was born Jan 13, 1974. For many years I dreamed of becoming an artist. Finally I received the chance to help my friends, who really dream of having their art displayed and appreciated. Also it can help them for their lives as art lovers. I really love painting as theorapy and to relieve my stress and help bring a true happiness to my life. The painting that I make are surrealistic, that way I can tell the story of my life in my paintings. The media that I use is from the Casava paper and Chinese ink and supplies. Casava is a very difficult media to work with. If the paint is slightly of the touch of the brush will result in a large blot. I hope you enjoy my art as much as i enjoy creating it. Tendy

Both Tendy and Sunu are good friends of Alfons and very talented artists. They have helped him over the years and had a good influence on his life. Here is a little of Tendy's profile.

Hartendy Profile: Born in December 17 1958. I was born to my beloved and now deceased parents Hadi & Siti. I started painting when I was 4 years old using chalk and charcoal. Now I use canvas and oil painting with naturalism style Altruism. From the time I was young to now I have struggled to realize my dream of becoming known as a painter. Many of the exhibitions that I have already displayed art at Pasar Seni ( art Market), ITB ( most famous art university in Indonesia). Forum Rakyat Seni Praksi and Dago Tea house exhibition. With all the exhibitions I have displayed at my feelings have grown stronger to become successful as an artist. I sold many of my paintings to cover my cost for material, travel and living. With this chance maybe you can help someone named Tendi attain his dream and share his passion with the rest of the world.  

Sunu

Sunu has had his share of demons and it shows up in his unique style and imaginative drawings. Following is a little of his story. 

Sunu Badhi :Born Jan 3 1959 in Bandung Indonesia. Material is drawing Rotring the media is art paper. I work in Surrealism. I have been painting for 30 years, and have a collection of over 150 drawings and paintings. Following are the exhibitions that I have displayed at, Pasar Seni (art market), ITB ( most famous art university in Indonesia), Taman Budaya Dago, Pasar Seni Bandung. My subjects are humans, animals mixed in with the universe. I love to paint and draw since I was a child. Many of my paintings were painted during a time in my life while I was recovering from serious depression from events which occurred in my life. Many of the paintings I can not remember painting, as I was on the border of sanity. Many of my paintings at this time appear sexual in nature, although I can not remember them or why they were painted in this fashion.  While I have been successful in my home country I hope to share my work with those of other countries and customs.
